Toriyama: Narrowing down part one of FFVIIвЂ™s sweeping story to just Midgar allowed us to really make the most of modern technology, and give a fresh coat of paint to the memories we all have of the original.

Lastly, do you have any comments about player reaction, or anything youвЂ™d like to tell fans?.

Thankfully, it was well-received by fans, from what IвЂ™ve heard. We also created a lot of narration for Kotch and Scotch to use during the match, which was no easy task. In the end, we decided to include it as a colosseum fight to make it more of a spectacle.

Toriyama: We upgraded the Hell House to be a boss, but even then it was still a bizarre enemy, and it would have been strange if it appeared out in the world without any run-up. WhatвЂ™s up with the Shinra trooper whoвЂ™s tasked with being ScarletвЂ™s pet-or whatever he is? Is that a shift-based position or is there someone who does it exclusively?.We also wanted to give players a better understanding of keywords important to FFVIIвЂ™s story, like the Ancients and the promised land, so we added the Visual Entertainment HallвЂ™s VR video as a sort of faux-PR reel. To that end, we thought a museum would be a good addition. Furthermore, the structure isnвЂ™t meant to be just a workplace, but also a place where citizens can come to learn about the company and see how their city is powered. The Shinra Building sits at the center of Midgar, and is designed to be a monument to ShinraвЂ™s technological achievements. We had an employee-only lounge there that we called the вЂњrefreshment floorвЂќ in Japanese, which is where the facility in the original game got its name. Speaking of the 97 release, FFVIIвЂ™s development took place in SQUARE ENIXвЂ™s old offices in Meguro, Tokyo.

Toriyama: The Shinra Building isnвЂ™t based on any real-world location, but for REMAKE, we made it more technologically advanced than the original.
